Zae@CyberTLC
My DVD drive and my CD drive. I can't remember what the names of them were but I think they were E and H or whatever. But no. I downloaded this program called Tiger OSX and when I wanted to play a DVD there one day the DVD drive was gone as well as the CD drive. I tried to uninstall the program but it didn't work. I've tried everything but it's not uninstalling, and now I want to totally do a complete system restore with my restore discs but that's not going to work without any of my disc drives lol. They are internal drives, btw. Ones that came with the computer.
-pops-
Are the drives seen in the BIOS?If they are then you should be able to re-install Windows provided you have the optical drive set as first boot device. So, insert the Windows disk, shutdown and reboot. If the drives are set correctly the Windows setup page should appear and you carry on from there and reinstall. In addition, I assume you cannot do a system restore. You would be advised to look at http://forums.windowsforum.org/index.php?s...5&hl=backup for future referenceBTW isn't Tiger OS X a MAC operating system? -pops-
Just noticed that you don't have a Windows disk, just recovery disks.Because of this, I can't state that my suggested method will work and because these recovery disks vary so much from brand to brand, the only people who really know what they're doing on this are the makers of your machine. -pops-
What brand of machine is it? Someone may know more about specific brands than me.Can you contact the makers?
Zae@CyberTLC
It's an EMachine. I've heard of people having a similar problem with Tiger OSX but I can't seem to find any types of results or how they worked it out. It's not a mac program, it's a mac similation program though...I could try to contact the makes but yeah. I don't know. I just really wish I could get the drives working, I could probably see what I can do.
nellie2
I was doing a bit of looking around and I don't think it is actually legal to have a simulation of a mac os on a pc see here Perhaps you should uninstall it or try a system restore. jason.b.c
I downloaded this program called Tiger OSXWait , How exactly did you download tiger legally and free...??? I'm preaty sure the last time i checked , thats a commercial OS...Not free as in freedom..And what did you do..?? , Install it..??? and reformat how much of the hard drive..??Seems rather odd that to do that would make the devices dissappear from windows..It's an EMachine. I've heard of people having a similar problem with Tiger OSX but I can't seem to find any types of results or how they worked it out. It's not a mac program, it's a mac similation program though...Well i don't know where you got the idea the Tiger osx is an emulation program, It's a version of the Mac operating system..( Link )System Requirements The system requirements for the Mac OS X 10.4 upgrade are a Macintosh with[2] * PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor * Built-in FireWire * At least 256MB of physical RAM * A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer * At least 3.0 GB of available space on your hard drive; 4GB of disk space if you install XCode 2 developer tools * DVD drive for installation (CD media available for a fee)

Zae@CyberTLC
Thank you all. I don't know much about computers but, I do know that it was only a similation program. I installed it, and when I didn't like it, it didn't uninstall after I tried multiple times. Then I tried to do a system restore and that didn't work. And then one day I go to play DVDs and my DVD device is gone. Thanks pops, I'll check out that link you gave me.
