Lost desktop icon

I had a little icon in my quick launch taskbar which enabled me to instantly go back to the Desktop when I was in any other programme.

The icon has vanished for unknown reasons - and I cannot recall how I put it there in the first place - so cannot replace it.

Can someone please remind me of the trick required.

Thanks - as Gordon Ramsay would say - f.... sorted.

I had a play with each recommended method - the only one that did not work for me was the right click on the task bar and the quick launch tick. When I unticked it - the whole quick launch bar vanished with all my quick launch prog icons - when I re-ticked it they came back again - in a different order - but the desktop icon was still missing.

The link provided by gagaman worked OK - as did the script by Nellie. Thanks both.

I have mentioned on the forum before that I keep a MS Word "Diary" for the computer - where I place on record all changes made to the computer, problems met and solutions found. It regularly gets me out of trouble - but for some reason I had not recorded how I placed the desktop icon in the quick launch tray in the first place - perhaps it is loaded by Windows on installation. I have now made a diary entry about how to recover the vanishing icon so I will not have to ask the question again.
