-pops-
Your attachment opens in notepad on my machine and is undecipherable by me.Can you tell us what the message towards the top of the blue screen says?
Zoidberg
It says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL*** STOP: 0x00000000A (0x09D0A1FF0, 0x0000002, 0x0000000, 0x8051E0BC)Would windows need reinstalling? I know before we figured out the RAM wasnt right that it said Windows had recovered from a major error or something simiilar and that it was corrupt. I think from memory. -pops-
IRQL errors are usually caused by RAM faults (as you supposed previously) or by software/hardware conflicts during startup. Do you have lots of peripheral devices connected to the machine that operate at startup e.g. printers, scanners, external modems and such? It could be a lack of power available at startup if you have self-powered USB devices drawing current from an under-powered PSU. At startup, the PSU is under maximum strain and if it can't supply sufficient power to the M/B it will not boot properly, hence IRQL error messages are common in that situation.Try disconnecting all non-essential peripherals during the startup process, only connecting them when Windows is fully booted up. If that cures the problem, increase the number of devices one by one until the problem one makes itself known again.Intermittent errors like you are getting are always a nuisance to solve but that in itself tends to point to a power issue in this case. Zoidberg
Nothing really, just a mouse and a keyboard at the moment.
jason.b.c
Zoidberg , You may need to get new ram for your computer..Here try this...Memtest.. or here..Other page .., see what that tells you.
djohn
You say you have swapped the memory sticks round, try taking out all sticks except for one and run it for a while. Remove that stick and replace with another until you find the one causing the fault. This is usually the quickest way to see if a stick is faulty. If your going to do it that way you need to make sure the one card you leave in is in the slot named DIMM 1, Otherwise the computer may not boot at all... Zoidberg
I ran MEMTEST on the original RAM and it was faulty. Since then I've swapped it, only getting blue screened once. My question is though when I had the original bad ram in there it said that windows was corrupted and I never reinstalled or did a recovery could this still be a reason for getting the blue screen now?I dont see how it could be a power problem, its a brand new PSU 550 watt. Everything in this machine is new.
