rosey
Hello All,Its my first post on this seemingly awesome forum.I have a server 2003 machine that that is backing up to an external hard drive (seagate). The only problem is if it gets restarted the machine wont come back up. Its not a boot order issue because It does get to the point where it says its loading Windows Server 2003 (you know...with the bar going across the screeen). But then the screen goes black and I wait for it to say "Apply whatever settings" but it doesnt get there unless I unplug or turn off the drive. As soon (i mean like within seconds) it continues to boot.Any ideas on this? Thanks for your help,Cody
-pops-
Welcome to Windows Forum.I have a machine that behaves similarly. It will accept two USB inputs to be present on bootup but if a third is there the bootup fails. It may be a power issue but it is strange that the effect occurs whether a self-powered device connected or one that draws power from the USB connector. I have learned to live with the problem now and connect any third (or more) devices after bootup. My son who has some machines with the same motherboard doesn't have the same problem. Not any help to you, I'm afraid, but it shows you are not alone :)
rosey
Thank you for the response anyway. The computer is at a remote location so I will have to double check on how many devices are hooked up to it. If anyone else has anything to put into this please do so for both of our sakes. Thanks.
