grim1953 Posted September 3, 2006 Report Share Posted September 3, 2006 Hi new to here so please be gentle, my problem is that on the desktop I am unable to right click on any icon, or indeed open the start menu by right click. Plus also my office 2003 outlook ceases to work and puts up an error message and trys to install or repair but this goes nowhere and the program just shuts down. :( When i try to right click on the icons on the desktop or now i have found even in folders to view properties it freezes for approx 30 seconds then resets the desktop or folder and shuts it down. I hav etried to uninstall office 2003 but it will not let me not even from control panel install/uninstall progs, this is doing ones head in as everything seemed fine yesterday in the email program, gvery grateful of anyone who can point me in the right direction to solving this problem :) Regards Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

grim1953 Posted September 3, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 3, 2006 I've restored to 1 day previously but still the same then i went back one week and it was still the same, i read on these posts about Open Office and have downloaded and installed this so i can at least use word & excell. but still the problem persists, it is almost anything i try to right click, everything else seems fine browser opens Ok, gone back to using Outlook Express while i try to solve the problem so at least i imported all my emails into that from OutlookRegards RoySorry just read the last part of your post no i don't have a back up of the system any idea's yet ?Regards Roy. -pops- Posted September 3, 2006 Report Share Posted September 3, 2006 The "correct" way to re-install, remove or repair MS Office is via the original disk for the program. Have you tried using that? grim1953 Posted September 4, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 4, 2006 Yes tried that with the disc it wont let me install. uninstall or repair the feature runs for so long then an error message comes up and the whole programe just shuts down with confirmation boxesIt's now when i right click on an desktop icon freezing fro approx 30 then the whole destop will clear just laving the wallpaper then it applies it all again as if starting and opens my firewall and anti virus programs , very weird , have scanned for virus and adware but cannot find anythingRegards Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Go to click here and follow the instructions, post the scan to the appropriate section of the forum and one of our experts will have a look at it for you.It does seem odd! However, when you are sorted out, ensure that you prepare a full system backup to use in case anything untoward happens again.
