Almost every time i download somehting, within 24 hrs it becomes corrupted and i have to download it again. I have used bittorent and it does the same thing, as well as firefox, and IE. -pops- Posted September 9, 2006 Report Share Posted September 9, 2006 What sort of thing is it you're downloading?My own feeling is that anything downloaded by bittorrent (or any other P2P program) is likely to be, let's say, not of the highest or most reliable quality. These programs lay you open to infection with all sorts of undesirable things being downloaded together with the item you want.Is the rest of your computer behaving itself?Do you carry out regular scans for viruses and other malware? aslambilal Posted September 9, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 9, 2006 Yes bittorents have this problem, but i force re-check and it fixes the liek 3 megs that were bad. As for regulard downloads from download.com and megagames.com etc.... same problem. Yes the rest of my computer is behaving normal as far as i know and it is up to date as per windows update.As for virus/malware scanner, i dont have one right now but i thought of that b4 i formatted yesterday to see if that would fix this. cozofdeath Posted September 9, 2006 Report Share Posted September 9, 2006 I was just trying to figure out if the problem was with your files in some way or as they were being processed to be sent over/from the net. I'm still not really sure though. Try going to Start, run and type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes and see if finds any problems. If it was only with compressed files I would say its your uncompression program. If its excutables, maybe a virus is infecting them or a corrupt file thats used in the process of executing it. If its having a problem getting to your computer correctly maybe a protocol/winsock problem. If your always using a connectionless protocal like udp its harder to implement error protection/detection, while a protocol that requires a connection can have several different methods of error detection/correction. aslambilal Posted September 9, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 9, 2006 Ok, i am running Windows File Protection atm, as for the uncompression program, its WinRarWFP is done and no problems reported.I'ms just fried by this problem, bcuz if a format can't fix it perhaps my x64 cd may be bad or something. cozofdeath Posted September 10, 2006 Report Share Posted September 10, 2006 If WinRAR is the only program you've tried you may want to give some others a shot. I should recommend 7-zip, because so many people seem to like it here but you should be able to use any that support an x64 system. Also a file integrity checker will monitor files for any changes.
