Mine is the same attitude as thousands of others. Blame the government. They introduced legislation that allows an eighteen year old access to his/hers fathers name and address. If someone does a woman a good turn, they don't want a complete stranger turning up on the door step eighteen years later.Yet another mess up with legislation. The majority obviously didn't. The first children to be affected will be 18 in 2023 and may exercise their rights then if they know about their origin and wish to do so.Thos. The donor may have forgotten making this gift all those years ago, and may have since married and not told his family. He may also have all sorts of other considerations in maintaining his anonymity. The number of men - especially students - volunteering as potential sperm donors has fallen sharply since 2000, a study has found. Researchers at the Newcastle Fertility Centre say the fall is almost certainly linked to scrapping the right of donors to remain anonymous. Thos Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 14, 2006 It was not retrospective and donors have known since 2005 that this may happen so it shouldn't be too much of a shock and surely men will have told their partners that in the past they have been donors.
