bat_1 Posted September 23, 2006 Report Share Posted September 23, 2006 I just created an empty file in c:\program.txt Then I restarted my computer. when I logon to windows there was a warning message occured File Naming Warning that warns some programs doesn't work. then I selected rename command.Since then I can't connect to internet. When I ping yahoo.com, it returns ok. And my remote desktop connection doesn't works too. Then I installed XP install by choosing repair mode. But now it doesn't work too. All network devices are working properly, all peoples those programs are working properly too. Please help me,How can I solve these problem? What type of connection do you have?.My company network connection is ok. Now I am writing this post another pc. From my pc I can logon LAN pc-s shares. But above programs doesn't work. What was the file you wrote intended to do?.It's just only empty text file, I always use notepad to save some data. Alan2273 Posted September 23, 2006 Report Share Posted September 23, 2006 By System restore, I meant the inbuilt one in XP.You can access it by Start/All programs/Accessories/System tools/System restore.Then select a date before the problems occured and restore to that date. Now could you tell me another available methods to fix this problem?My all programs works with network, such as Internet Explorer, Remote Desktop Connection, FAR don't work properly. They opens but couldn't connect to LAN network servers and internet. But from command prompt ping command to all network, internet are replying ok. djohn Posted September 23, 2006 Report Share Posted September 23, 2006 Hello bat_1. Just in case your not sure how to do a system restore in XP, do the following. Click on, 'Start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore button'.This will bring up a screen with a calender on the left. On this will be several dates in bold type and you can select anyone of those to restore your machine to a time before the bad file command.
