pi3rc3
i built a new pc about a month ago and installed windows media center 05 on it. now youd think that WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER wouldnt have problems with video files...but mine does. ever since i got this thing setup whenever i open a folder with a video file in it and put my mouse over the file it would give me this data execution prevention error for exploror then told me exploror has encountered an error and needs to close. after a few tries it will finnally let me fire up the video if i do it real fast. so i set my DEP settings to ignore exploror and now it just goes straight to the exploror has encountered an error and needs to close.this is extremly annoying. if anyone could help me out id really appreciate it, my next line of action will be to start kicking my machine
-pops-
Are there any reports in Event Viewer that could give a clue as to what is happening?
pi3rc3
event viewer says"Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x03f23206."
-pops-
I don't know a lot about WMC but I understood that it was only available pre-installed. I have noticed you built the machine yourself. To do this successfully and have all the extra facilities of the Media Centre available, you require to have more hardware than just an ordinary PC in a box. Do you have these extras installed? From the error message you get in Event Viewer, I can only suggest that you do a repair or a re-install of the O/S.
