Scott Lyons Posted October 2, 2006 Report Share Posted October 2, 2006 Hi,I am running W2k server and over the weekend my machine would not boot because of corrupted ntoskrnl.exe and a few others. I managed to fix those with the recovery console on the install CD.But after fixing those by expanding and overwriting them, now the progress bar at the bottom goes all the way across the screen and I get a blue screen saying INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.Running chkdsk from the console says my disk is fine. It's a fairly new maxtor 120. I can also see that all my files are still there.My question is, will reinstalling windows fix this? andsome Posted October 3, 2006 Report Share Posted October 3, 2006 I have in the past regularly installed W98SE on top of an old version and cleared up problems. With XP this is asking for trouble. I don't know about W2K, but would expect similar problems to that caused in XP. Maybe someone else can offer more help. Best of luck. nellie2 Posted October 3, 2006 Report Share Posted October 3, 2006 I've done a repair installation on XP a few times, this re-installs your system files but leaves your personal files intact.I think it is the same or similar for 2K but I've never done it so I couldn't say for sure.
