Google Earth & Registry Problems

In response to a post by tankus that Google Earth has been updated - I downloaded the latest free version and installed it on top of my existing copy.

Result - every time I tried to use it - it kept freezing with the message "this programme is not responding" etc.

So I uninstalled the programme and used RegScrub to clean out any left-over Google Earth registry entries, it found two.

As a belt and braces check I then used Crap Cleaner to check the registry and this found a further 61 entries for Google Earth, which I deleted. This raises the question about how effective RegScrub is.

Curious - I then used Regedit to check for registry entries - this found two - so even Crap Cleaner can miss 'em.

I then re-downloaded Google Earth and reinstalled it - but again it keeps on freezing. I can get it to show Solihull - but as soon as I try to pan the picture or zoom it - Google Earth freezes and refuses to budge.

I therefore removed it and tried the RegScrub, Crap Cleaner and Regedit procedure again - with similar results. This time RegScrub found 4 registry entries, Crap Cleaner 52 (which I deleted) then Regedit found only 1.

My previous copy of Google Earth behaved OK - but the new version refuses to run on my computer. More worrying though is the dismal performance of RegScrub which I have previously trusted.
