api vs dll's

Hi all,

I got a couple random questions.

The first:

I was just curious what the difference between API and DLL's is?

The second:

Is there a way to make DOS open up under a different path? Mine always opens up under documents and settings. How can I change the default path upon running cmd?

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/API - API

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic-link_library - DLL

Read the first paragraph or so and you will find the difference.

2. If you can, it will be here - http://www.computerhope.com/msdos.htm

You should also remember that Windows XP used a DOS emulator, not real DOS.
