The problem i have is when i try to burn a cd the drive will not recognise a blank disc, andit states to put in blank disc which i already have. the drive will recongise any disc with media on . -pops- Posted October 17, 2006 Report Share Posted October 17, 2006 Have you ever been able to burn disks on that machine?What disk burning software do you have installed?The burner in Windows XP is not the best one that is available and it will only burn CDs (not DVDs) so if that is the one you are trying to use, can I suggest that you look at something a bit more versatile.Nero is one of the most popular disk burning programs and you can get it quite cheaply. dadyassa Posted October 18, 2006 Report Share Posted October 18, 2006 Maybe it has been caused by one of XP latest updates, they have switched on and off various other programs when they have been loaded.If you are confident inside a PC, with the power off while working inside the box and suitable anti-static precautions, unplug the leads to the drive, boot up then shut down.
