Share an Outlook Express account between 2 XP users

Is it possible to have two users on the same PC (one admin and one with liited rights) sharing the same Outlook exprss account. I mean both can see the same inbox and use the same email address.

If it's not possible, how about in Thunderbird?

I imagine that as long as the email account details are identical for both Windows users (same email login name and password and same server names), that should work for Outlook or Outlook Express, regardless of which of the two Windows accounts is logged on. I've never actually tried it cos I don't hold with creating more than user account in XP (my own) as it tends to get a bit messy and puts more pressure on system resources, but the theory sounds okay.

Easiest way to make sure the email account is identical for both users is to 'export' the account as a file from the existing email account to a floppy disk or thumb-drive (to avoid folder access problems when importing it). Log on to the other Windows user, open Outlook Express in that and 'import' the email account file you just exported.

What type of account? If it is a POP/SMTP account, then I imagine that each user would download the email messages into its own datastore. I don't know if you can share/change OE datastores. If it is an IMAP account, then there is no problem, as the messages remain on the server.

The same is true for Thunderbird, and I also don't know where TB stores its mail data.

MS Outlook however can share the same PST file between different users (not at the same time, of course).
