I have a dual boot system with win xp and ubuntu for over a year now, for some strange reason today my windows xp seems all screwed up i cannot open yahoo messenger, or internet exploter, when i double click the icons the program opens up briefly and then just shuts down , so i tried to restore the system to a previous date, but my sytem retore option is not opening either, Is there a way I could change my system to a previous date using ubuntu? I have ran kaspersky anti virus, and several spy removel programs such as ewido , ad aware and spybot. I think i might have deletated something accidentilly a few days ago with one of the spy removal programs. . Is there a system restore option in Ubuntu like their is in Windows XP ? I have tried in safe mode to do system restore and it is still not working, please help Thanks in advace

Have you tried sfc /scannow.

you could also try this,

1. Restart your system

2. When the system first boots, hit F8 to bring up the boot menu

3. Select the Safe Mode with Command Prompt option

4. Log-on as administrator if needed

5. At your command prompt type

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

6. Hit Enter

6. This will open the system restore wizard...
