are your video card drivers properly configured? [do they recognize the screen, or do you need to add it manually?]

is our motherboard compatible with this monitor [this might not be possible, but you never know...]

try updating your drivers, or reinstall them [monitor and/or videocard drivers]

does this all depend on the driver?

Very much so, yes. Unless you have some additional software from the manufacturer, that can be used to configure your monitor.

Have you made sure that you have the latest drivers for both display adapter and the monitor? The driver that came with the monitor may already be outdated; the same for the display adapter.
