They both can connect to the network, get an IP address, all's well. The only problem is when I try to use the internet it will act as though I am not connected. I know that the networks working, I plugged in another laptop and it works fine. Is there something Windows controls that will prevent me to connect to the internet by any means (i.e. AIM, IE)?Here are some specs on the laptop:Firewall has been tried both on and offno antivirus activeWiFi w/ b & gregular network cardWindows XP, all up to datelaptop is a Compaq, about 6 mos old. Scarecrow Man Posted November 30, 2006 Report Share Posted November 30, 2006 You should try flushing the DNS and ARP cache. This can be done by clicking the active connection in the taskbar (or in the network connections folder), and going to Support tab. Click repair and wait for it to complete the operation.
