-pops-
Hello Nik and welcome to Windows Forum. Is this a new problem with your computer?Has it worked previously and now changed? Is it a wired or wireless keyboard? This function is controlled by the Power Management settings in the BIOS of the computer. Check that the settings are correct and that the BIOS is functioning properly - for example a failed or failing battery on the motherboard can cause malfunctions of the BIOS settings. -pops-
OK, Are you sure the battery is working correctly - does the computer keep the correct time and date or have you had any messages suggesting that the BIOS is wrong? On many computers the "Power On by PS/2 Keyboard" is disabled by default and if the battery power to the BIOS has been interrupted it will revert to the default setting - that is disabled. Have you checked that there have not been any changes in the BIOS of the computer and that the Power Management Setup is correct for the way you want it to work? If you are not sure about looking at the BIOS, I suggest you get someone else to look at it for you as you can cause damage by doing the wrong thing.
