hot-doc Posted December 23, 2006 Report Share Posted December 23, 2006 HiI'll be very grateful if someone can help me with thisI have a dell dimension desktop that runs Win XP SP2(updated)Zone alarm firewall(always on & Norton Antivirus ( updated and on)In the last week, my system has suddenly gone to the blue screen of death with the message Bad_Pool_Callerand asks me to check any software/hardware recently installed. -pops- Posted December 23, 2006 Report Share Posted December 23, 2006 Sudden shutdowns after a period of working OK can often be traced to overheating.Don't know specifically about your machine but is there any temperature monitoring software installed? There are several different temperatures measured by Everest.Even so, that isn't excessive so I think we will have to look elsewhere.Do you have a lot of (unnecessary) programs running in the background? hot-doc Posted December 23, 2006 Author Report Share Posted December 23, 2006 How do you troubleshoot RAM?Sorry if I sound stupid.It crashed again 4 hrs ago and this time the Blue screen message was "page fault in non paged area"I don't know about too many programs in the background but I have 1024 MB of RAM . the crashes only occur when I am online. No problemsI don't know what to do next :-(having noticed I only crashed when online, I have uninstalled firefox and utorrent. Hope it will make a difference. cozofdeath Posted December 24, 2006 Report Share Posted December 24, 2006 It sounds like a bad installed program. It looks like your only getting memory errors and if its not bad RAM then its probably a corrupt program. The easiest way to find out what program it is, is to go into your event viewer and look for what program caused the error. Start, run, type Eventvwr.msc and on the left click Applications and see if there is any error about the time that it happened. You might want to look through System on the left and see if there are any error also. Running sfc /scannow from run will check all your system executables for corruption. Other than that I would suspect p2p/spyware. Hope something here helps. If it doesn't there is more that can be done. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
