newbee202
hey guys & gals, wondering if anyone can help me out here.I did the following over crimbo:-1. cleared cookies and temp internet files via properties in IE2. Cleaned and compressed system files via system tools in windows. Now when i try and log into websites (such as hotmail and my web mail) IE allows displays a 404 error. Could this to be with windows firewall or anything like that?I have never come across this before. Thanks,Steve
-pops-
The file compression facility in Windows has given me many problems in the past and what you're experiencing now may be due to that. Are you able to do a System Restore before you did this spring cleaning? Either that or a re-install from your backup - which you should have.I am surprised that you get a 404, though.Which version of IE are you using? Scarecrow Man
"HTTP 404 - File Not Found" Error Message When You Try to Visit Web Pages That Are Opened by javascript Functions in Frames or in WindowsDoes that help?
cozofdeath
Have you tried restarting? I know its kind of a stupid question but I've posted on sites with a problem before restarting only to find it fixed later. If its not this a restore or reinstall of IE may be needed depending on how bad it is. It could just be a bad shttp IE component for secure transactions. Scarecrow Man
Just thought of something.IE only allows 4 concurrent connections, and 10 maximum global connections. Basically you can have 4 connections to one site, and a maximum of 10 sites open at once. Could be causing the 404 errors.
