Thomas Posted January 8, 2007 Report Share Posted January 8, 2007 I'm helping a friend with a winxp-sp2 computer.His search function is no longer working.When starting search function from start-menu or any other place the search window opens, the Dog looks kind of happy, but thats it...There is no options, no place to add search values or anything...I guess there is a corrupt or missing file somewhere in his system, but I don't know where to look...Any ideas on what to do? Thomas Posted January 9, 2007 Author Report Share Posted January 9, 2007 Thanks for all the tips...Regarding the use of windows repair.I have tried that before when I had problems with my own computer, but I don't understand how it works...When starting the repair from the CD all I get is a DOS Shell...What is the command to start the repair?What does the repair do? Will it leave all programs, settings, documents etc. in the same place and will all programs work, or do I need to reinstall programs?Is repair a good thing to use when the computer is going sloooooooow???Have tried tune-up and registry mechanic and removed more than 1500 errors in the registry, but the computer is still going slow...Thanks again!
