Friend List

Recommended Posts

I am starting a new topic, as the other one has already too many issues mixed in it.

This forum has a tool called Friend List, where you can add other members as friends (formerly buddies). Not a very important function, but since it is here, I don't see why it shouldn't work. Here is what doesn't work.

  • I have added another member (cozofdeath) as a friend
  • I go to 'My Controls', 'Friend List'
  • I click on 'Manage your friends list'; the pop-up window says There are no friends to display
  • if I go to the profile of the other member, there is an option 'Remove Friend'; members that I haven't added to the list have an option 'Add as Friend'

So the other member has been recognized as being a 'friend', but 'Manage Friend List' doesn't know it.

Is this perhaps related to the other topic, where former "buddies" have been added to the PM Block List?

I've just had a quick look at this feature.

At the moment it appears that friends will only appear in "My Friends" (the link at the top of the forum).

The "Manage Friends" link in the profile seems to only be useful for approving friends.

I guess this is the way Invision designed it, and is not a bug.

But it would make sense to have all the information in one place

In the previous forum version there was a "Buddy List", where you could add a short comment to each listed member ("This is the guy who..."). That was very useful to identify some of the almost 5,000 forum members for one reason or another.

The replacement 'Friend List' doesn't have that, so it is pretty much useless.
