PICUSHSKI Posted January 13, 2007 Report Share Posted January 13, 2007 Hi, I am trying to downgrade my XP Media Centre (WMC) to XP Pro. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to. My WMC is in-built into my Packard Bell computer, I think it's called an OEM but I am not sure, so I can't just do a system restore then load the disc. When I select the F3 option of loading from disc, it goes through the process until I get to a blue screen asking me to select a section to load the disc on. This page has 3 options at the top of the page and a box at the bottom of the page. This box says "unkown disc". I then press a key and then it goes to another page with error messages. These are as follows: STOP: 0x0000008e (0x0000005,0xf7418cad,0xf6fea7e4,0x00000000)SETUPDD.SYS-ADDRESS f7418cad BASE AT f73ec000,DATESTAMP 41107c8f. Please can you help? I have tried calling Microsoft but I am getting no joy. The reason I am downgrading is that I work with Avid editing systems which are very tempramental and do not run on WMC but do run on Pro. -pops- Posted January 13, 2007 Report Share Posted January 13, 2007 Have you seen click here in connection with the stop error reference?I don't think you can downgrade to XP without reformatting the drive but I think there would be additional problems with the RAM as your STOP error indicates.I find it odd that there is software that operates on XP but not on WMC as the latter is only XP with a few add-ons.Additionally, I feel that temperamental software should be avoided.
