yitzle Posted January 19, 2007 Report Share Posted January 19, 2007 I've got a laptop with 130MB RAMDVD PLayback with VLC Portable is choppy.I suspect its because of the RAM shortage.Windows 2k runs with AVG at 110MB RAM and VLC consumes an additional 40 MB and I guess the swapping is what makes it choppy.If my guess likely right? NOT including Media player, themes, and many of the nice things that come with XP.) It recomends 128 but again this is just a minimum for the OS itself. yitzle Posted January 21, 2007 Author Report Share Posted January 21, 2007 Thanks for the reply.I got (1) Win2k, not XP, and (2) 128MB RAMMPlayerC has trouble reading the DVD. Not sure why.VLC (opposed to VLC Portable) only consumes 15MB and I managed (not sure what I did) to get Windows to boot with 80MB RAM usage, so its acting much better now. I'm going to look at services/processes and see what can be killed.(Also there is something called KMPlayer that's supposed light on resources. Or MKPlayer.
