rogersm
this may seem like a dumb question but is there any way you can turn off the annoying beep when ever you manually adjust the volume control?
-pops-
I don't think I've ever had a beeping volume control. Are you using the standard Windows audio system?
rogersm
I don't think I've ever had a beeping volume control. Are you using the standard Windows audio system?First of all I have Windows XP Home Edition. I am currently using Conexant AMC Audio which came with the computer. I can control my wave volume without any annoyance, it only seems to be the actual volume control. My volume control is on my taskbar and when I single click it and move up and down the volume a harsh beep responds with the change in volume. The main reason I use my computer is for music purposes and find this issue to be of great importance. Can anyone help me?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I know that annoying beep, and I don't know why -pops- has never heard it.On my business computers I have all sounds turned off (muted), so it doesn't bother me. But I also have a music computer, and on there I simply don't use Windows volume control, but an external volume controller (M-Audio), and that one doesn't beep. AlanHo
1. Right-click on My Computer2. On the Hardware tab, click on [Device Manager]3. On the "View" menu, select "Show hidden devices"4. Under "Non-Plug and Play Drivers", right-click "Beep"5. Click "Disable"6. Answer [Yes] when asked if you really want to disable it7. Answer [No] when asked if you want to reboot8. Right-click "Beep" again.9. Click "Properties"10. On the "Driver" tab, set the Startup type to Disabled11. Click [stop]12. Click [OK]13. Answer [Yes] when asked if you want to rebootGot this from googling - have not tried it myself though.Or try this one if you are adventurous-If you have XP, then you have a program to record sounds. -With the mic unplugged (or absent), record a 1 sec clip. It doesn't matter really how long, but it probably saves resources if its not a 10 min long clip. -Save to c:/windows/media-Change the sound for Default Beep in Sounds (Control Panel) to the file just recorded above. Apply and save.-Viola! No more beeps in the volume manager except for a soft, padded sound that can only be heard at max volume
