Service constanly going to 100% CPU

So, every so often, one of the svchosts(the one with a ton of services under it) goes to 100% for a minute or 2. Which is quite annoying since I can't adjust the priority on svchost, so I'm left with staring at task manager until it stops. Is there a way to adjust the priority, or to find out which service is problematic? Here's the list of services under that svchost:

AudioSrv, BITS, Browser, CryptSvc, Dhcp,

dmserver, ERSvc, EventSystem, helpsvc,

lanmanserver, lanmanworkstation, Netman,

Nla, Schedule, seclogon, SENS, SharedAccess,

ShellHWDetection, srservice, Themes, TrkWks,

W32Time, winmgmt, wscsvc, wuauserv, WZCSVC

I had this problem a while ago. It was due to the Windows Update files. I ended up having to contact microsoft for a hotfix.

I am sorry I no longer have the link. I can tell you it was not just a download. I had to e-mail microsoft back and forth several times before they provided me with a file hotfix.

OK, your post gave me an idea, so I went to the windows update site and while it checked for updates it seemed to reproduce the same sort of behavior. So I'm guessing when automatic updates checks in the background this happens. So I'll try to change when auto updates runs. If that doesnt work I guess I'll contact MS. Thanks!
