billyboy Posted January 29, 2007 Report Share Posted January 29, 2007 So, every so often, one of the svchosts(the one with a ton of services under it) goes to 100% for a minute or 2. Which is quite annoying since I can't adjust the priority on svchost, so I'm left with staring at task manager until it stops. Is there a way to adjust the priority, or to find out which service is problematic? Here's the list of services under that svchost:AudioSrv, BITS, Browser, CryptSvc, Dhcp,dmserver, ERSvc, EventSystem, helpsvc,lanmanserver, lanmanworkstation, Netman,Nla, Schedule, seclogon, SENS, SharedAccess,ShellHWDetection, srservice, Themes, TrkWks,W32Time, winmgmt, wscsvc, wuauserv, WZCSVC Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Scarecrow Man Posted January 30, 2007 Report Share Posted January 30, 2007 I had this problem a while ago. It was due to the Windows Update files. I ended up having to contact microsoft for a hotfix.I am sorry I no longer have the link. I can tell you it was not just a download. billyboy Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Share Posted January 30, 2007 OK, your post gave me an idea, so I went to the windows update site and while it checked for updates it seemed to reproduce the same sort of behavior. So I'm guessing when automatic updates checks in the background this happens. So I'll try to change when auto updates runs. If that doesnt work I guess I'll contact MS. Thanks!
