Server Freeze

Hi.

On the 13th of Jan we had 5 servers freeze at around 4am. All 4 within about 5 minutes of each other.

These servers are application servers, handling an IIS web.

There are 6 of this particular server scattered across the 4 corners of the UK, all of which reside on the same AD.

The only one that didn't fall over was the one situated on the same site as the DC.

Symptoms were as follows:

Customers BMC Partol would indicate that the server had vanished.

I could ping the servers, but was unable to Remote Desktop on to any of them. I tried Sysinternals PS-Shutdown to invoke a remote shutdown, this failed.

I couldn't remotely manage the services on them either.

The only solution was to button all 5 of them.

I've sent the windows event logs to our support guys, but they say that they cannot tell us why the fell over. I find this hard to believe.

I don't suppose any of you guys would want to take a look at them and tell me what caused the issue??

They are quite a size, so I may have to email them on to you.

Thanks ;)
