Ken Posted February 5, 2007 Report Share Posted February 5, 2007 I have been using Microsoft Backup successully to backup XP data files on an external hard drive. I tried to use the backup 'everthing on the computer" mode where a floppy disk is created to boot up in case of total failure. -pops- Posted February 5, 2007 Report Share Posted February 5, 2007 Windows backup is most certainly not the best software in the world - as indicated by the number, and popularity, of independent backup programs like Acronis etc.If you are serious about backing up (and you should be) then using an independent backup program is the way to go. Could it be that the floppy disk is either locked or damaged. Or not formatted? Try to copy some document to the floppy, and if this works, format it again. Then try the ASR again. Then try the ASR again.I didn't use the wizard. All hardware is working fine. I am using the backup option that is found under C drive properties, tools. I have used this software for years and I know how to use for recovery. I just recently tried the option to create a boot disk to recover from total loss and the sotware says "The files for the recovery diskette could not be created. The operation was aborted."
