XP Vs. Vista

I need to know the differences between Windows XP and Vista, it really doesn't matter what edition of vista.

Looking for something like the "product specs" for Vista, but i really can't find anything. Ideally what i need is something like this:

Vista offers this, XP Does not offer this.

XP offers this, Vista doesn't offer this.

Does anyone know a good website where i could get some good "product specs" the more indepth the better, thanks.

Here.

Be very careful unless you are an expert. I would certainly only consider Vista on a machine built for it, and NO WAY would I go the update route. Some of the more expert on here have done so, but most of us recall the update problems with W98 to XP. XP is great on a machine designed for it, and I have no doubt that this will apply to Vista.

all the graphic effects are also possible on windows xp:

Aero: download a Aero skin [yes, its possible with an msstyle skin!] from the internet

Windows 3D Flip: download TopDesk

the bigger desktop icons can also be done with XPize and other programs

the Sidebar can also be added in Windows XP [using the Sidebar app]

Final Thoughts:

Windows XP is way better: its more secure, more stable and the cheapest ;P

i wont buy Vista untill a few years [2, i think] > then it probably will be fully stable and secure [and cheaper ;P]

Security ( for now) . very good mechanisms designed by vista team like user account control, session 0, new firewall, built-in defender, ie7 separation, mrt + more

Search. find files or content almost instantly, ok. indexing, metatag search.

BCD - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boot_Configuration_Data

WinRE - Windows recovery environment (new recovery tools)

WIM - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wim

hope this answers some of your questions

I think you're looking for an answer when you dont really know what the question is.

Since the verstions of Vista are all different and contain different applications you cant do a straight comparison.

My two penneth is that Vista offers nothing particularly stunning new over XP, but what it does offer is a whole range of things you already do but can now do subtly better. Dont have time to go indepth now, but if you want to know reply and i'll expand.

cheers.
