presbp
When I try to bring the menu down to record or pause or rewind when watching TV the WinTV2000 application hangs and then I just have to end it from the task manager. Then if I try to reopen it it does not work, but if I reboot it works again as long as I don't try to record or rewind or pause from the viewing window (I can record shows with the scheduler fine)I also noticed that it hung and froze when I had a couple other applications open (Windows explorer and Firefox)My computer has a Core 2 Duo E6600, SoundBlaster Audigy 4, nVidia 7800GT 256MB PCIeX16, 2 gigs of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800MHz RAM and a Hauppauge HVR-1600. Why is this hanging, and how do I fix it? Is the program not using the video card by default or something. It should not be a hardware problem because I spent a bunch of money on my new hardware. Thanks.
-pops-
I have this Hauppauge product but found very temperamental. It is good at its prime function - copying/recording TV programs on to the hard drive but unable to cope with all the extras it is supposed to be able to do.Do you have the latest software for it?It makes your computer work very hard - at the expense of other programs functioning properly. Depending on the priorities of other programs which might try to operate when WinTV is working, one or other is liable to crash. One thing you could try is removing all trace of the Hauppauge software and hardware and re-installing afresh (with new software if you can get it from their web site.)
