I have a copy of the procedure, but it still seems like you take the risk of getting duplicate files, or other problems.So, back to my original question, if you DO have XP installed, will the upgrade WIPE everything re-format, and install ONCE IT CONFIRMS the prior OS?Thank! What?Your wiping question was answered by dadsgravy, I gave links to a procedure known to Microsoft and well documented. I don't understand your references to "the dark side" and such. I thought I did a full format but I have a folder called "windows.old" with a ton of files in it. Do I need this? It wasn't a joke, it was perfectly viable when I posted it it's just that Microsoft have decided that the get-around is not for public knowledge - even though the procedure works in practice.Regarding you Windows.old files, these are ones that have been retained from XP as an archive. I got it Just in time.The reason I posted this is related, however.
