This may sound dumb :unknw:

I often see pat or someone advise open windows explorer and navigate to say finding where old versions of flash player may be lurking..

I do not seem to have this program on my computer or just cant find it.

I have IE, MSN but when I try Run 'windows explorer' it takes me to a place called windows and then that tells me the file is empty and was modified January 2003 which is when this computer was being made ready for sale as I bought in a couple of months later.

:uhm:

Windows Explorer is for me the most useful tool on any computer. When I touch a new computer, the first thing I always do is send a copy of a Windows Explorer shortcut to the Desktop. The original shortcut resides in Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer. You can easily recognize the icon

P.S. to navigate around in Windows Explorer you use the left pane to click on whatever you want to see on the right pane; e.g. you click on C: and you will see all the folders and files that reside on the C: drive.

The average user will not see all files; important system files are hidden from normal users. By default you also will not see all file extensions: e.g. iexplore.exe will only show as iexplore. You can change what and how it is shown in Tools -> Folder Options.

On the right pane you usually use double-click to open something.
