Someone has Pinged your computer!!!!

I have been getting nuisance pop-ups on my computer once every hour or so, i then when to my mcaffe firewall and it said someone had Pinged that my computer and gave me this persons IP, i reported him/her and blocked him/her. Will this clear my computer of further danger and Pingers are Hackers right?? lol

edit:- You may have more than just a ping, you may have a nasty. One of the Forums malware experts will no doubt come along and ask you to post a HJT log. So it might be a good idea to download Highjack This from this link. Then you are equiped and ready.

Pinging is nothing more than a query to see if your computer is online. More than likely McAfee didn't even reply to the ping if it was coming to your computer. If the ping was coming from your computer you should find out what application is sending the ping before worrying. Its common for many legit apps to ping before making a connection. Pinging is not illegal in anyway and is used all the time by Windows and other software. Just to be safe you may want to scan your computer and post a hijack log as catgate said.
