Pat,

Maybe I should re-phrase, it makes more existing space avaliable after the defrag and it rearranges the sectors so files use sectors that are next to each other on the disk - keeps your hard disk healthy/tidy.

Maybe the terms free's up space was a bit misleading, sorry everyone.

Anyway glad Partition Magic fixed the problem.

Acronis also use similar software - easy to expand partitions.
