Problems With Windows Media

Recommended Posts

Everytime I play a music file in either Windows media Player 11 or in Windows Multimedia Centre in about the last minute the song will stop and start playing again and distort for a few seconds before continuing normally, it even does it on videos.

What is confusing is that whe I play music in programs such as iTunes I dont have the same problem and the music plays perfectly. I think it might be a codec problem however ive tried several packs and none have helpd.

Has anyone encountered this problem before or know how I can solve it?

Im currently running on a new Sony Vaio laptop with Windows Vista operating System, however I dont think its a Vista related issue.

I would appreciate any help.

Seems very odd!!

Do you have other programs running at the same time?

Is the timing of this fault consistent? You say "about the last minute" - is this timing the same on every occasion this happens or does it vary?

I don't think it's a codec problem but, what codec packs have you tried?

The timing of the problem is always the same, its impossible to give a precise time because songs are different lengths but its ways within the last minute at some point, never changes.

I showed it to the technician at my college today and he thinks it has something to do with my media encoder, when I try and play files on Media Player it says 'media changing' in the buttom left of the window, he thinks it might have something to do with that but didnt no how to stop the player converting files.

He recommended I unistall player 11 and try 10 instead however as im using Vista I dont no if that will effect anything else.

When it comes to codec packs ive tried the Windows Vista codec pack and also the KLite codec pack, both of which havent helped.
