juice99 Posted March 24, 2007 Report Share Posted March 24, 2007 how can i check which process or service is using my hard drives? i got 100% HDD usage for about 4 days now, and i don't know which process/service is doing it :( i closed all processes i could in alt+ctrl+del and my hdd was still 100% usedi have windows xp with all latest patches from windowsupdate and updated AVG antivirus. i have Indexing Service turned off. If so, the Task Manager's Processes tab should tell you which process is using up the CPU. Tell us what it is, and we may be able to help you more. Tell us what it is, and we may be able to help you more.i mean disk activity :) i know my computer pretty well, so no such mistakes are possible...my cpu is idle, and in control panel admistrative tools i see _DISK_ activity very high. i also hear it all the time working, the same as when i turn on some scanning for viruses or defragmentation or something like this. But no such thing was turned on and i still got this noise and disk activity showed almost 100%.like i said, i closed all closable processes and it was still there. i didnt try closing all services, but i guess this will be my next step.any tools to see which process is making so much IO activity, or maybe this is some invisible process? if so, how to kill it?
