The only way to reliably install Vista is the way that Vista allows you to - and that involves inserting the Vista disk and following the instructions that come up on screen.

Personally, I would never upgrade a computer from one Windows operating system to another. A computer is built to perform at its best on one system. Installing a new system (that most likely wasn't even thought of when the machine was built) cannot give the best performance from either the machine or the O/S.

1. You can only boot from the disk with a full version of Vista. If you are using an upgrade, you must have a full version of XP Home or Pro.

2. "worth it" could mean a lot. Is it worth the price, and possible headaches when your favourite hardware no longer works? No.
