Illegal System DLL Relocation

Recommended Posts

An automatic Windows update occurred as normal while I was gone. I returned to see the following message (the message box had front focus on the desktop; I couldn't screen capture it, so the text is below)

RTHDCPL.EXE - Illegal System DLL Relocation

The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The reloocation occurred because the DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.

I know how to find out the vendor info. for the DLL. Is there anything I can do on my end to rectify this?
