MCMIL Posted April 25, 2007 Report Share Posted April 25, 2007 yes i dont know why but every time i try to install something off a cd/dvd this stupid hp boot optimizer comes up asking me if i want to repair or install it. i pick yes it installa and when i put the cd/dvd back in it comes up with the same thing every time. i've done installed hundreds of times and repaired same thing. i really dont know whats going on. i've reinstalled using system recovery disks also. what should i do? MCMIL Posted April 25, 2007 Author Report Share Posted April 25, 2007 well thats what i mean. i guess it uninstalls itslef or something. every time i put in a cd to be installed the hp boot optimizer comes up first asking me to install or repair it. even after i just supposedly installed the thing? i dont know, i just read somewhere not to disable it unless you have to, but i guess thats the best answer. thanks for the info. Make sure you know how to use Startup Inspector correctly and disable the HP program.If it doesn't do anything positive, you can always revert to how it was. Startup Inspector is quite safe as long as you are careful in using it. cozofdeath Posted April 25, 2007 Report Share Posted April 25, 2007 Another suggestion that should work is opening msconfig (Start, run, type "msconfig"), then click the Startup tab and find HPBootOp or something similar and disable it. Then insert a cd/dvd and check if you get the pop up. Also there probably is a way to uninstall it. If may be in the add/remove programs as some kind of a HP package.
