copying hard drive-win2000

Recommended Posts

I have an slightly older computer running windows 2000. I would like to install a larger hard drive. The PC does not have physical space that I can see to place one.

Is it possible to copy one hard drive to a larger one and have it run on the machine?

If I remember right, WINXP uses the serial number for the hard drive in it't registration process. Does WIN2000 do the same.

Thanks

Andy

The only way I could think of doing that is temporarily setting the newer drive in another bay (perhaps a CD or DVD drive bay) and using a third-party program like Norton Ghost to mirror the drive.

This is why I love computer forums...you learn about so much software you never knew existed.
There is a link for Acronis at the top if the Window. As a subscriber to the Forum, you would get a discounted purchase. :)

Exactly, that's why I said 'would get'. ;)
