How would Vista on on a 1ghz processor 616 RAM system?

I wanna replace my old computer and get another old one but one that can possibly run Vista. I've seen on ebay (now before anyone starts saying don't trus buying computers off ebay, just let me know how you think Vista would run first) it is a Pentium III 1ghz processor with 616MB RAM, 130gb hard drive and 256mb graphics card. My old comp got 320mb RAM so I guess I could prob add that RAM into aswell, but lets leave that out and with the system as is, how you reckon it would run Vista??

A: Microsoft has posted minimum hardware requirements for what it’s calling a Windows Vista “Capable” PC, which means a PC that can run the basics of the new operating system:

A processor running at 800MHz or higher

512 MB of system memory (RAM)

A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable

In order to run all of the new features of Windows Vista, the minimum requirements are somewhat higher. Microsoft’s specifications for a Windows Vista “Premium Ready” PC, which will be capable of taking advantage of all of the new graphics features includes:

1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) or higher processor

1 GB of system memory (RAM)

Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of

graphics memory (minimum), Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel

40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.

Honestly though, minimum specs mean minimum performance. Honestly if I were going to be setting up a computer that old, I'd be putting something like 2000 or XP on it as they're far less intensive.

With just about everything unchecked that can be unchecked vista uses up like 500-600 MB on my wifes new laptop.

Vista won't run with that spec.

How old is the computer? i have an 8 year old computer i keep going just for fun the maximum Ram the MOBO will take is 512MB SD and the only graphics card that will work is an old Matrox thats also 8 years old that will only install with a standard graphic driver that in turn gives only 2D display useless in my view there is no support for these old cards.

Ahh was justa computer I saw on ebay but it sold for too much but my old one being fixed and more ram and faster processor been added and it already has XP so I think I'll just stick with that as it would run faster than what Vista would on it obviously.
