Installing xp, new mobo with RAID 0

Recommended Posts

So I am trying to reinstall windows on my RAID 0 hard drives, I am attempting to format them and get XP on the machine. I can boot into the windows installation blue screen.

I put in my raid driver disk, and I push f6, after a while the raid menu comes up, I select the option for an SATA raid, once it gets to the point where it says "installing windows" on the bottom grey bar, that dreaded blue screen immediatley comes up where it says:

"your computer has stopped to prevent from damaging itself, etc..., scan for viruses, etc..."

What do I do? I tried it with the windows XP installation disk that has SP2 on it, so its a recent version of windows xp....

Ensure the machine has no unnecessary peripheral devices attached to it (printers, USB/Serial/Parallel port/Ethernet devices) before trying again.

You should have only the barest essentials connected when installing Windows - all the others can be installed later.

May not work but is worth a try.

nope nothing extra in there

core 2 duo 6300

8800GTS Superclocked

2 Western Digital 70GB

NEC DVD-RW/R

Disk drive

2 Gigs of Kingston ram 667

Aquagate mini CPU cooling system

thats all i have in there. I am hoping this isn't a chipset incompatability issue. People say to try to format your hard drive when you get this error, however, I can't even get to that point.
