Guest moon
I want to build a dedicated sound machine from scratch. I'm thinking P4 at the moment as I'm told that it's hard to quieten down AMD's. Any comment on that. for starters ?
Tankus
AMD's run hot, compared to p4's so they need the cooling....makes sense..Saying that my older 8OO Athlon which is networked into my main 2000 stores all my music on a 20 and 80 Gb hard drives, through a Digital Dolby 5.1 Cambridge sound-works 5 point, plus a sub woofer, it does it for me.....!Do you really need a P4....? , get a cheaper older chip and motherboard , and spend it on the soundcard and the speakers......My Hifi sits dead and unloved in the corner of my dinning room, I think its been years since Ive stuck a CD in it...... Its not just the sound , Its the ease of stacking up the tunes.......
Guest ellas
or get one of the p4 celerons, you can get a 2.0ghz for £60 with a heatsink/fan included.
Guest moon
At times I'll be using up to four simultaneous audio inputs so I'm going to need a card with a break-out box and a cpu that can cope. I currently use a Soundblaster Live Platinum but it's limited and there are latency issues with my existing Pentium 3 600.
