ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Part of the joy going to a concert or theater performance is having it followed by a relaxed dinner at a good restaurant. After opening its doors at the end of last year, Calm Terrace in Ebisu quickly became one of the places of our choice. Offering a cool, elegant atmosphere, good food and wine, professional service, and Last Orders near midnight – all important points for a delightful late-evening dinner. Chef Makoto Sakurazawa (formerly Tableaux, Citabria) creates a fine Californian cuisine with European-Asian influence. Manager Tony Ishizaki (also from Tableaux) takes care of the customers on the floor. We visited Calm Terrace again after a recent kabuki performance, and found that they have just introduced the new summer menu. Marinated beetroot with gorgonzola mousse (¥850) was our first starter, followed by langoustine ravioli with a green soybean sauce, and a taraba crab cake with avocado and fresh grapefruit (both ¥1,400). Entrées include items such as citrus-marinated salmon with lime-flavored Sauvignon Blanc sauce (¥1,900), or roasted veal saltimbocca-style (¥3,200). On the Rice and Pasta section there are sushi rolls, as well as Korean bibimpa. A few interesting items from the dessert menu: peach & vegetable tart, rose-scented blanc manger, or ginger-flavored chocolate mousse with rice crème brûlée. All wines are Californian, from about ¥4,000.
