A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Cryptographic API Component Object Model (CAPICOM) that allows an attacker who successfully exploits this vulnerability to take complete control of an affected system. CAPICOM can be used as a component of a 3rd party webpage, script or application. You can protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft.

Some folk seem to have got it ages ago. Do I really need this patch..??

I've got a capicom.dll. Dunno why. What's capicom got to do with me?

I did not get KB931906 offered on my XP system, and I do not have it installed.

But I saw it come in on the 2003 servers, where we have Micrsoft BizTalk installed. It may be needed there (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931906).

However, if you get it offered on your system, I would go ahead and install it (it's a security update).
