Boffy
I am currently running a dual boot system using linux and windows me. I soon go sick of not being able to run windows progrmas on linux so i am using me more but i am have loads of problems(the reason i tried linux in the first place). The computer randomly restarts, blue screens happen for no apparent reason and shutting down is a long hard task in itself. I think the problem could be related to the new amd athlon xp 2000+ processor i installed and that windows me can't keep up. I would like to know if anyone else experience the problems with me or xp and how to fix them. Also i would like to know if upgrading the xp is a good idea as it is likly to fix the probs.CheersBoffy
Craig
I have never used linux, but i can say without a doubt that upgrading from Windows Me to XP is a must.I had blue screens appear every now and then on Windows Me, but once i installed XP all my problems dissappered.Windows XP is (in my opinion) the most stable Windows operating system yet. You will also find that you will have access to many new features that are not available in Windows Me also.I hope this has helped you out. andsome
I have messed up computers more times than I have had hot dinners. So far however, (fingers crossed), XP has refused to let me botch it up completely. On one occasion whilst messing about I did something wrong and the computer went ass up. I could do nothing, not even close it down. So I pressed the off button and closed it that way. When I restarted, a window came up that said that Windows was repairing a log. It took about five minutes and has been fine since. I would not go back to any other O.S. Do a completely new install of XP, making sure that you have XP compatible drivers for everything. I have the amd athlon 2000+ oem processor - 6ch sound card - nvidia geforce4 64mb graphics - 256mb sdram. Hope that can help diagnose the problem. Thanks for all the advice so far guys!
