cjsmith22 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Share Posted June 11, 2007 If I want to send a document, say from Word or Excel, as an attachment to an email and I do it by using the send to > mail recipient (as attachment), any message that I type in the outlook message form that opens up is not displayed to the recipient. They just receive the attachment. If I look in my sent box in outlook, the email is there but again no message is displayed in the body of the email. This is using outlook 2003 connecting to a remote exchange server which I have no access to. I've tried doing the same using outlook 2003 and a pop3 account (on a different machine) and it works fine (the body of the email is sent).any ideas ? However, when I send a document by using the email icon within Word, there is an 'Introduction' field below the 'Subject' field of the header. When I insert text into the Introduction area field, it is included in the message at the top of the document.Perhaps I have not understood your query sufficiently well, but I hope the above will be of some assistance. :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted June 12, 2007 Report Share Posted June 12, 2007 In Word 2003 there are several Send To optionsMail RecipientMail Recipient (for Review)...Mail Recipient (as Attachment)...and a few others, not relevant to this case.The first one will give you the 'Introduction' that Irene mentions. The text in there will precede the inline contents of the Word document.The 3rd one is the one the original poster mentioned; this will open a normal mail message, with the Word doc as an attachment, and the text can be normally typed into the message body. When I tested it, the body and attachment arrived safely.Question to the original poster: what message format did you use - plain text, HTML, RTF? Try again with another format. cjsmith22 Posted June 14, 2007 Author Report Share Posted June 14, 2007 thanks for the quick response and apologies for the delay in getting back - the original message format was rtf - the problem seems to have been solved using the email icon and the 'introduction' field - i still cant understand why it didnt work the other way on this particular machine though. thanks guys !
