jag Posted June 15, 2007 Report Share Posted June 15, 2007 I've got an HP Pavillion with an 80GB HDD and running XP Home. I've run out of room on the 80GB drive to install Vista Ultimate. I purchased a Seagate 250GB HDD and installed the jumpers as the master, booted with the Vista DVD, and I get a status error 0xc00000e9-unexpected I/O error. It tells me that it was unable to communicate with the HDD. The Bios has recognized the drive. Seagate support does not respond, and HP tells me to unplug the original, plug the new drive in as slave, and boot. I don't get that, but I tried that and had no luck. I did get an install disk with the new HDD, but I don't want to do anything with it in the slave position for fear of not being able to move it to C: as my primary. Any ideas?
