I powered down my laptop (dont know specs), now when i power up, it acts perfect, log in loads, but then, all i get is an open document window. No navigation, no desktop items like folders or trash can. I can cntr, alt and del to get task but nothing else. Alan2273 Posted June 17, 2007 Report Share Posted June 17, 2007 Haave you tried Safe mode?.To get into the Windows Vista Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key, then select last known good configuration and press the enter key again.If this fails go back to safe mode, let it load and use system restore.Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message.
