The name is Shin Hi No Moto (03-3214-8021), and it is actually located under the railway tracks near Yurakucho station. Wildly popular among local salarymen and foreign expats alike, it is run by another expat, a Briton named Andy. The menu features good izakaya fare – sashimi, grilled and sautéed seafood, tempura, salads, and the like. Drinks range from wine to shochu, a favorite being shochu with Hoppy.Hiroo’s Belg•Aube bistro has changed into a Japanese restaurant, Rakuza (03-3449-1633). It is run by the same staff as previously, and it specializes in beef nabe and kushiyaki. Several wines are available by the glass or bottle, some interesting Japanese cocktails are on the menu (sakura-ginger was a very interesting one!), as well as sake and a wide range of shochu.Istana in Nishi Azabu has also temporarily closed its doors. But they will reopen before the end of the year as a fine-dining karaoke restaurant named J & H (short for Jekyll & Hyde, tel 03-5468-8364). How about that – karaoke Christmas dinner, anyone?
